Weighty Decision
Keepers at the Memphis zoo have had tons of fun since last Christmas. That's when Julie, the zoo's 27-year-old hippopotamus, gave birth to a pair of 40-pounders - the first hippo twins born in the U.S. in 12 years. Actress Cybill Shepherd, another Memphis native and mother of twins - hers are a year and a half old - will choose the names. There's just one hitch: Julie throws her two tons around whenever anyone tries to get close enough to figure out their sexes.
Note: Julie gave birth to twins Splish and Splash on Christmas Day 1988. The twins were notable for being one of the first sets of twin hippos to survive in captivity.
